Why yearly rankings instead of weekly or monthly?
Weekly customs statistics do not exist in any official source. Monthly Comtrade data is patchy and delayed, so the honest comparable cut is annual (HS 7108). The latest year reaches the UN database with up to a year of lag.
What is HS 7108?
The Harmonized System code for gold (unwrought, semi-manufactured and powder). Customs agencies worldwide classify cross-border gold shipments under it — these declarations are what UN Comtrade aggregates.
Why aren't all countries in the ranking?
We show the ranking among the 35 countries this platform tracks (the same set as the globe and country pages) and state the data coverage under the table. Some countries skip reporting to Comtrade in certain years — those cells are marked missing, not estimated.
