The baht is the Thai gold weight unit: 15.244 grams for bullion and 15.16 grams for jewellery. Do not confuse it with the baht currency — Thai shops quote so many baht (money) per baht (weight) of gold. The Thai purity standard is 96.5% (23 karat) rather than 999 or 916.
